⁵⁰ His wife’s name was Ahinoam, and she was the daughter of Ahimaaz. The name of the commander of his army was Abner, the son of Ner, who was Saul’s uncle. ⁵¹ Saul’s father Kish and Abner’s father Ner were the sons of Abiel.

⁵² There was bitter fighting against the Philistines all throughout the days of Saul. Whenever Saul saw a strong or brave man, he took him into his service.
